O que é Mindful Eating?

Food is an intrinsic part of our lives, but we often have a difficult relationship with our eating habits, many times feeding ourselves in an mindless way. Wouldn't it be good to experience a new way of dealing with food, and with ourselves while dealing with it? In this program we will address and experience our internal and external wisdoms, raising awareness of what motivates our eating, what makes us overeat, and cultivating a greater consciousness of the actions we take related to the act of eating. Through awareness and present moment perception, as well as exploration of what happens in certain situations, we will approach this very familiar topic in a radically different way. The focus of this program, more than on weight loss, is on developing mindfulness, and strengthening attitudes such as kindness, patience, and compassion for oneself. In addition to cultivating curiosity about what is going on, it will be possible to increase the possibility of making good choices, and foster pleasure in eating and quality of life in general. It is an opportunity to approach the act of eating in a more balanced and fair way, without stress. Our goal is to encourage the participants to

- Recognize the bodily sensations

- Differentiate between hunger and the desire to eat

- To identify the triggers that cause us to eat unconsciously

- Discovering or rediscovering flavors

- Increased ability to pay attention and make choices

- Appreciation and especially a sense of natural pleasure in what one eats

And the main thing: More freedom and

                     Well-being

BACKGROUND OF THE MB-EAT PROGRAM

MB-EAT is an acronym for Mindfulness Based Eating Awareness Training. The program was designed by Dr. Jean Kristeller, who developed the elements of MB-EAT while working in clinical training at Yale University. Dr. Kristeller worked closely with Professor Emeritus of Medicine and founding director of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. From this experience, the practice of Mindfulness became the foundation of the program.

Based on cutting-edge research conducted by Dr. Judith Rodin, Dr. Bartoshuk, and Dr. Gary Schwartz, she considered a new approach to dealing with eating and overweight. The program evolved into a classic 12-week format after a series of research and with the collaboration of valuable students and colleagues.

WHAT IS MINDFULNESS

It is the awareness that arises when we focus our attention on the present moment, intentionally, moment by moment, and without judgments. It is a concept that proposes to place the total perception of sensations and emotions experienced in the present moment. The word mindfulness means "full attention", or "Full Consciousness," that is, it is a set of tools, resources, and mental techniques that aim to achieve genuine concentration on something or something that we normally don't devote the necessary time and attention to, with curiosity and openness.

Mindfulness, then, is a way to concentrate on the here and now, in order to fully perceive all the sensations and emotions that everyday activities provide us with. It is a way to make each person fully and completely experience everything that is happening in the present moment, and all the benefits that this brings.
